Magical fiber sculpted butterfly fairy on silk morning glory leaf

Petite and sweet fiber fantasy sculpture!

This tiny enchanting fiber sculpted fairy sitting on a hand dyed, silk morning glory leaf is my latest creation just completed.  She is now listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy.

I forgot how a tiny little creation takes almost as long to create as one of my larger fairies.  Her face is only about .75" long and .50" wide which makes it very hard to work with.  

I will be making several more of these tiny fairies sitting on silk leaves.  Some will be designed as mobiles, which would look enchanting just about anywhere.  Others will be designed to hang on the wall, or as the one above, to sit on a shelf or anywhere else you'd like a bit of fairy magic.

I've used Aquamarine Swarovski crystals in March's birthstone fairy....in her hair, necklace, belly button, waist accent, on her toes and the center back of her wings.

Birthstone Properties: Bestows courage, insight, and victory

Aquamarine is the traditional birth stone for March. It is also the accepted anniversary gem for the 19th year of marriage. Aquamarine is mined primarily in Brazil, Nigeria and Zambia.

Ancient Romans believed the magnificent gemstone was sacred to Neptune, the god of the sea. Some legends say that it was gift from mermaids, while others suggest that Neptune retrieved it after it fell from the jewel boxes of sirens and washed onto shore.

Here is my newest addition to my JUNGLE COLLECTION of fairies and spirits....! Her sparkly brown/bronze hairdo gives her a very magical look. It shows a bit darker in these photos than it really is.

ABOUT THE FAIRY:

This exquisite little fairy is 6.5" tall, and is the smallest of my "wall style" fairies. She is designed to either hang on the wall, or dance from a bit of ribbon. There is a loop on the back for this purpose.

Her face, like all of my creations, is 100% silk, which I individually hand-draw, needle-sculpt and hand-paint.

Her body/wing fabric is a beautiful fabric in colors of white and greyish blue, with sparkles throughout! Her accents are crystal clear Swarovski crystals in her hair, on the front of her chest, at her waist, on the tips of her toes, and also in the center back of her wings. Oh yes, she also has a crystal belly button.

Her sparkling/glistening hairdo was designed from an Italian "eyelash" style yarn.

Now....a bit about the mermaid!

She is the smallest of my "wall style" mermaids, measuring 6.5" tall. There is a loop on the back so that you can either hang her on the wall or have her twirl and dance from a bit of ribbon or clear fishing line!

She is my own original design, and has been indvidually created by me. Her tail was designed from a beautiful batik fabric, in shades of coral, with metallic gold lines running through the pattern

The tail has been stuffed with acrylic fiberfill, the fins top-stitched into a design and have inner wire armatures, so that you may bend them up or down a bit.

Her upper body/face is 100% silk. I hand-drew, needle-sculpted and hand-painted her face. Her eyes and lips have a coat of crystal clear lacquer which gives her a very "life-like" look and shine. Her arms also have inner wire armatures, so that they also may be bent up and down a bit.

Her colorful hairdo is a soft wispy yarn which glistens. Its color is various shades of coral mixed with "poofs" of olive green.

Her accents are Swarovski crystals, tiny seed beads, and real sea shells.
