Magical fiber sculpted butterfly fairy on silk morning glory leaf

Petite and sweet fiber fantasy sculpture!

This tiny enchanting fiber sculpted fairy sitting on a hand dyed, silk morning glory leaf is my latest creation just completed.  She is now listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy.

I forgot how a tiny little creation takes almost as long to create as one of my larger fairies.  Her face is only about .75" long and .50" wide which makes it very hard to work with.

I will be making several more of these tiny fairies sitting on silk leaves.  Some will be designed as mobiles, which would look enchanting just about anywhere.  Others will be designed to hang on the wall, or as the one above, to sit on a shelf or anywhere else you'd like a bit of fairy magic.

I am always happy to create "special" orders, and can send photos of fabrics and yarns in your choice of colors.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may by clicking on my name below:

Stop back soon to see a step by step tutorial on the creation of one of these little creatures.

Enchanting Fabric Fairy House with Fiber Sculpted Fairy

Enchanting Fabric Fairy House
with Tiny Fiber Sculpted Laying Fairy
$105.00 (Free Shipping)

I just completed this fun, colorful fabric fairy house.  I designed the fairy house from a pattern designed by fiber/fantasy artist, Julie McCullough.  I modified the pattern to create this 12" tall house, where the original pattern is for a 22" fairy house.  I added one of my fabric sculpted butterflies and Swarovski crystals as accents.  The tiny little fiber sculpted fairy is my own original design. This creation (fairy house and fairy) will be soon available at the BLUE HERON GALLERY in Port Washington, WI where I am currently showing my work, or you may contact me personally at dzfairies@msn.com

She measures approximately 2.5" long from her bent up legs to her elbows, and is about 2" high from her elbows to the top of her head.

I will be creating several more of these fabric fairy houses and the little fairies to go with them.  If anyone is interested in "special ordering" a set, please feel free to contact me for further information.

The fairies can also be created as sitting fairies, such as the tiny fairy shown below.

The sitting fairy measures about 3" tall from her "seat" to the top of her head, and fits nicely sitting in the door of the house.  I've also styled the house so that it could be hung as a mobile, if you didn't want it sitting on a table or shelf.

Teeny Fiber Sculpted Fairy and her Fairy House

This tiny fairy measures only 2.75" high and is the smallest of my sitting style fairies.  If anyone is interested in "special ordering" a tiny fairy of this size, please feel free to contact me at dzfairies@msn.com. The fairy house is a pattern from Julie McCullough. The fairy house shown in the photo above was given to me by a friend, and I added the handmade flowers and fabric butterfly.  I just received the pattern, and will be creating several of these quilted fairy houses along with tiny little fairies to coordinate with the fabrics of the house.

This size fairy also looks cute sitting on a hand-carved mushroom designed from a root.

Here she is sitting in the palm of my hand.  A fairy this size sells for $42.00.

These wee fairies would make a sweet addition to any fairy collection. I will also be creating them laying down.  I would be happy to send fabric and hair samples in your choice of colors, etc. either via mail or email.

SWINGING FAIRY....!

SWINGING FAIRY...my newest design!

For some time now I've been wanting to design and create a little fairy swinging on a vine swing.  Little did I realize that creating the vine swing would take me almost as long to create as the fairy!

I had to sew two long stems wide enough to be able to turn them inside out and have a wire armature in the middle of the stem while stuffing them with fiberfill.  It was a lot harder than I anticipated!  After I finally got a pair sewn and stuffed, I then handpainted them using silk fabric paints.  Once the stems were totally dry, I could them twist them together.  The really hard part was holding them together so that I could sewn them securely and shape them into a swing.

The other trick was trying to hold the fairy in place while positioning her on the swing and sewing her to it at the same time.

I'm thinking it might be a while before I attempt another one of these "swinging fairies".

New "SOUTHWEST SPIRIT" Fairy!

"SOUTHWEST SPIRIT" FAIRYShe wi
by DZFANTASY

I just finished this tiny 6.25" "Southwest Spirit" fairy, which was my last creation to finish before this coming weekend when I will be exhibiting in my last art show of the season.

She will be coming to the show with me, unless of course she finds a new home before this Saturday.

I used one of my favorite fabrics for her body and wings....Laurel Burch's "Mystical Horses" design.  I'm afraid this is the last of her fabric I have in this design.  Since Laurel passed away, I believe it was last September, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find her wonderful, whimsical designs.

ZEBRA FAIRY ....My latest addition to my JUNGLE COLLECTION

ZEBRA FAIRY

Fiber Fantasy Sculpture

by

DZFANTASY

I just finished this ZEBRA fairy as another addition to my JUNGLE COLLECTION. I had a great time designing and creating her. She is the third figure I have created with the jungle theme. My first was a very colorful wall accent, the second was a "leopard fairy", which has already been sold. I am now working on another leopard fairy, and next comes a giraffe fairy.

If you'd like to see more of the ZEBRA fairy, click on either of her photos. She is now listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy.

I have found it hard to find really good animal print fabrics, and have ordered them from Hancock's of Paducah. Hancock's has a huge selection of quality fabrics, and they send you a full color catalog. While I normally like to "touch and feel" the fabrics I use, I've found their fabrics to be of top quality.

If you can't find what you are looking for in fabric shops in your area, you may want to check them out. Here is the link:

They carry Modern Fashion, Romantic Florals, Exotic Batiks, Bali Batiks, Retro Chic, Novelty Fabrics, and more!

PISCES...MARCH'S CHILD - Aquamarine Birthstone Fairy

PISCES - AQUAMARINE BIRTHSTONE

FAIRY

by DZFANTASY

Each month I will be creating a "Birthstone" fairy for that particular month. Above is my PISCES FAIRY, for which I used the Modern Birthstone list of colors. The Modern Birthstone list is the official birthstone list from the American National Association of Jewelers of America. The colors in this list were officially adopted in 1912.

I discovered that there are other colors/stones associated with each birth month.....Mystical Birthstones are of Tibetan origin and date back over a thousand years. Then there is the Ayurvedic Birthstone list, which is from Indian medicine and beliefs dating back to ancient India (1500 BC).

I used over 30+ Aquamarine Swarovski crystals to represent March's birthstone, and used the aquamarine color scheme throughout the whole fairy....fabric, hair, and accents. She is quite a refreshing sight! If you'd like to learn more about her, just click on her photos. She is curently listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy. If anyone is interested in have a "special" Birthstone Fairy created, I will be happy to work with them, as far as style, size, colors, price range.

Her hairdo was designed from a fun textured yarn, which has "wisps and nubs" as its texture. It also glistens for a very fairy like look! She is wearing a real acorn cap, which I hand-painted a sparkly metallic gold. Her other accents are Swarovski crystals, tiny seed beads, and several gold plated leaf charms at her waist. Oh yes, she also has a Swarovski crystal belly button!
