HOW SMALL CAN I GO? MY NEW SMALL FAIRIES!

I just finished this "wee" fairy, and have decided she is absolutely the smallest fairy I can create! She is the second tiny fairy I have created since I scaled down my design of what I already thought was the tinest figure I could create and still be able to get a good face.

This may not seem small to those artists who create their tiny fantasy fairies out of clays, but when working with fabric, it is quite tiny. Her face measures .50" wide x .75" long. I've found it actually takes me longer to create a tiny fairy such as this than when working with a larger size figure.

The photo below shows the very first of my teeny, tiny fairies, and her face was even a bit smaller, which was almost impossible to do. It measured a little less than .50" wide and a tad more than .50" high. After attempting that size, I increased the face a wee bit.

2.75" high from her "seat" to the top of her head.

Here she is sitting with several of my other size fairies. The Fairy Bride on the left is my middle size fairy and measures approximately 4.5" high from her seat to the top of her head. The little yellow sitting fairy is what used to be my smallest fairy.

SPRING FAERIES STILL ARRIVING!

SPRING FAERIES are still coming to my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy....even though this morning it is only 33 degrees here in Wisconsin!! Just when I think spring has fianlly arrived, I wake up to "feel" that it hasn't quite made it.

This is my latest little fairy all ready for spring! She doesn't seem to know that it hasn't arrived just yet.

As you can see, I'm still on my "jungle" theme, and have just finished my second Leopard Fairy. My first Leopard fairy left for her new home last week. This one is created with a different leopard print fabric, and the colors are light cream, hints of tan, and black. Very gorgeous fabric! She also is a bit larger than my first leopard fairy, as this one was 10" long before sculpting her into her current, permanent position.

I just had to create an Aquarian Water Sprite Fairy for all of us Aquarians out here! This being our month, I felt we had to have a fairy to celebrate February's Child.

I am working on the idea of making this one of my new lines.... "Birthday Month" fairies using the colors represented by that particular month, and birthstone Swarovski crystals included in their accents. Each fairy would come with a card containing that "sign's" characteristics, colors, stones, etc.

AQUARIUS FUN FACTS:

NOW ABOUT THE "BUTTERFLY WING FAIRY"

This BUTTERFLY WINGED fairy face is a charming little wall accent. They look great whereever you want to add a bit of magic, to any room in your home or office. The wing is 7" wide (span between upper wing tips), and 7" long (from tip of top wing to bottom tip of wing). Each wing has been lightly stuffed with 100% acrylic fiberfill, then top-stitched into a design, and have inner wire armatures. There is a loop on the back for hanging.

The fairy's face is 100% silk which has been hand-drawn, needle-sculpted and hand-painted. The eyes and lips are further enhanced with a crystal clear lacquer which gives them a 3-dimensional look and shine. This fairy's hairdo was created from a funky yarn with long eyelash and soft poofs of color in it. Her accents are 4mm Swarovski crystals,a tiny metal bumble bee charm, and a green Swarvoski crystal flower bead in her hair.

Her wings were created from a silky textured, minty green fabric, which has sparkly chips of rhinestones in the fabric. GORGEOUS!

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MERFAERIE??

MERFAERIE

This "Merfaerie" is my latest design. I've been wanting to create a fantasy creature who not only is a mermaid, who can flit through the magical ocean kingdoms and seas, but also one that can soar above the earth and visit other magical kingdoms as well. She is the first of my colorful Merfaeries!

I hope to be creating more of these "Merfaeries" in different sizes, as time allows. She is the largest ,and measures approximately 15" tall, with a fin span of 10" wide. Other sizes I am considering are 6.5", and 10".

Her upper body and face are 100% silk tussah fabric. Tussah silk comes from wild moths, whose main diet is oak leaves. I individually hand-drew, needle-sculpted, and hand-painted her face.
