Decorate with Fiber Fantasy Butterflies

A section of my upstairs bathroom
decorated with my original designed
fiber, fantasy butterflies in several sizes.

If you love butterflies as I do, you might just want to have me create several of my original designed fiber fantasy butterflies in your choice of colors with Swarovski crystal accents. (Note: the large butterfly at the top of the flower photo is the largest butterfly I create and is 12" long x 11" wide at the top tip of the wings)

I can create them in several different sizes the smallest being approximately 1.75" x 1.75", and the largest 12" long.

The above photo shows several of the 1.75" size butterflies accenting my flower photos in my kitchen.  Each butterfly's body is created with Swarovski crystals.  These can also be made into "pins", if you'd like to wear your butterfly. Below is a photo of 3 different size butterflies accenting the flower photo in one of my bedrooms.

Below is a photo of a trio of fabric butterflies which I created for my great niece's first baby girl who will be making her debut sometime in June.  Her theme for the baby's room is going to be butteflies!!  Her colors for the room where to be light greens, pinks, and lavender...hence the colors below!  The top green butterfly measures 12" long, the pink butterfly is about 7" long x 7" wide at the top tips.  The tiny lavender butterfly is about 4.5" wide at the top.

Whether for a baby's room or little girls room, or even a big girl's room, butterflies make charming, accents in whatever colors you may like!

12" butterfly with Swarovski crystal accents.

All butterflies are stuffed with acrylic fiberfill and top-stitched into a design.  There is a ribbon loop on the back for hanging on the wall.  If you are interested in learning more about having special order butterflies created for you in your choice of fabric colors, sizes, etc. please feel free to contact me, Donna at: dzfairies@msn.com

I will be more than happy to work with you, and can send you fabric samples either by mail, or email photos.

Rainbow fairy and butterfly mobile! Whimsical fantasy creation!

Rainbow Butterfly and Fairy Mobile!

For a long time now, I've been wanting to create one of my tiny fairy's flying on one of my fabric sculpted butterflies. I finally did it!!

Getting her to balance on the wings took a long time and it was very "touchy", but as you can see in the photo above, she is flying.  She is hanging from a bit of clear fishing line, which has been attached to a hidden loop in the back of her fluffy hairdo.

She can also be displayed sitting on a shelf or table.  The photo above shows her sitting on a flat surface.

Back view of her hanging as a mobile!

She is now listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy, so if you'd like to learn more about her and see more photos, just click on the link below.

Now that I have the design figured out, I hope to have time to create some more of these fun creatures.

FEATURED ETSY ARTIST - DESIGNS BY C.D. CHILDS

Denise of DESIGNS BY C.D. CHILDS has a lot of fun, colorful things in her Etsy shop, so be sure to pay a visit!! As I was browsing through her shop, I happened upon this little lady bug!! Isn't she charming!

I'm happy Denise has taken the time to share her thoughts and work with us. Below you will learn a bit more about Denise and her wonderful creations.

What led you to start creating your art/craft?
When I was in the first grade, my teacher noticed my artistic talent. She advised my mom to help me pursue my artistic ability. My mom bought me art pads, books and pencils. By the time I was 10 years old, I was in private art classes learning how to paint in oils. I have been creating with whatever I can get my hands on ever since.
How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?
Stained glass was actually by acident. I really had no interest in glass. My mom invited me to take a class with her. After turning her down several times, I finally gave in and took a class. I fell in love with everything about glass. I am now a professional stained glass artist, and I do contract labor for many builders in my area. I'm currently trying new things with my kiln.
What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?
The creativity process is the birth of a new project. But when I get to execute the actual design or piece, that is where the excitment really begans. The most enjoyable aspect of creating is when everything has fallen into place and my creation comes out perfect.
If you had to choose a fruit OR a vegetable, to describe your art/craft, what would you choose, and why?
Asparagus...It takes years for the plant to develop one small spear before you can actually enjoy the fruits of its labor. I'm a perfectionist at heart. When I choose to make something, I have to love the design, and it has to be perfect when I'm finished.
If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?
My first love is oil paints. I am planning to paint more in my spare time. If ony I had spare time. lol
What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?
I want to convey beauty and interest. I want people to be inspired when they see my work.
What advice do you have for other artists/crafters?
The only message I can convey to anyone who does any type of art/craft is to love what you do and create what you love.
THANKS, Denise for taking the time to give us a bit of an "insight" as to how you got started in your art, and what your feelings are about your work. Don't forget now.......take a peek at Denise's shop. I'm sure you will be delighted with her creations.

GLASSWING BUTTERFLY OF SOUTH AMERICA

My sister-in-law sent me this in an email this morning, and it is so gorgeous I just had to share this out here.

The Glasswing Butterfly Lives in South America.

A butterfly with transparent wings is rare and beautiful. As delicate as finely blown glass, the presence of this rare tropical gem is used by rain forest ecologists as an indication of high habitat quality and its demise alerts them of ecological change. Rivaling the refined beauty of a stained glass window, the translucent wings of the Glasswing butterfly shimmer in the sunlight like polished panes of turquoise, orange, green, and red. All things beautiful do not have to be full of color to be noticed; in life that which is unnoticed has the most power.
