13.5" Fiber Sculpted Wall Style Mermaid

I just finished creating this colorful mermaid, who is the largest of my wall style mermaids, measuring 13.5" from the bottom of her tail fins to the tip of her colorful hairdo.  She is designed to hang on the wall, dance from a bit of ribbon or clear fishing line or could be displayed on a shelf with the wall to lean against.

Her face and uppper body is 100% silk fabric.  I individually hand draw, needles sculpt and hand paint her face.  Her eyes and lips have a coat of crystal clear lacquer, which gives her a very life-like, 3-dimensional look and shine.

She has a lot of Swarovski crystal accents, in her hair, necklace, belly button and at her waist.  She is of my own original design and creation.  A lovely addition to any collection.  She is currently listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy.  I also have smaller size mermaids available in my shop, and am always happy to create a special order figure, in your choice of colors!  Please feel free to contact me for fabric and yarn samples.

She was sold today, and will be on her way to her new home !

I finally finished her!  I've had her magical fish finished for a while now, but just couldn't get going on the nymph.  She is light and airy looking in her tones of aqua, which are enhanced with over 100+ Swarovski crystal accents.  Sewing on all the crystals by hand took me quite a few hours in itself.

She is designed to hang as a mobile and will twirl and sparkle!

Introducing my latest idea....a fabric sculpted butterfly attached to one of my flower photo prints. I've decided to combine my two favorite things to d0...creating fiber fantasy creations and taking closeup flower photos. The results is a "Butterfly Flower Photo" wall accent. The butterflies are permanently attached to the glass of the frame.

I have a lot of gorgeous flower photos, which I will be combining with one of my original designed butterfly creations that will match the flowers in each photo. The butterflies all have Swarovski crystal bodies. I will also be having 8" x 10" size photo accents.

A BIT ABOUT THE "BUTTERFLY FAIRY":

Size: Wings measure approximately 3" wide at top, and 3" long from top tip to bottom tip.

Her face is 100% silk which I have individually handdrawn, needle sculpted and handpainted.

Her bright blue hairdo is a wispy "eyelash" style yarn, and her antennae were created from Swarovski crystals on colored wire.

Her bright blue wings are fabric with a sparkle throughout the pattern. The pin's back is a half circle of texturized brass to which the wings and the pin's clasp are cemented to.

These pin's make wonderful, unique accents to any outfit, and wearer is sure to receive a lot of comments.

ABOUT THE "FAIRY FACE PIN":

SIZE: 1.75" x 1.75"

This little fairy face has a fun, fluffy hairdo which I designed from a fun textured yarn with a bit of sparkle to it. The colors are shades of purple and deep rose. Her hairdo is accented with a purple silk flower with 3 - 4mm Swarovski crystals sewn into the center of it.

Her face, like all of my creations, is 100% silk fabric, which I have individually hand-drawn, needle-sculpted and hand-painted. The eyes and lips have a coat of crystal clear lacquer, which gives her a very life-like, 3-dimensional look and shine.

The entire face has been sprayed with a matte finish sealer by Krylon, so it will not run or smear.The fairy's head, and the pin's clasp are cemented to a circular piece of texturized brass.These pins are my own original designs and take me about 2 hours to create. Each fairy face has its own personality, and wearer is sure to receive a lot of compliments.

A BIT ABOUT THE FAIRY:

She is one of my 10" wall style fairies. Her body/wing fabric is a fun, colorful fall print of acorns and leaves. Her face is 100% silk, which I individually hand-drew, needle-sculpted and hand-painted.

Her hairdo was designed from a fun textured yarn, which has "wisps and nubs" as its texture. It also glistens for a very fairy like look! She is wearing a real acorn cap, which I hand-painted a sparkly metallic gold. Her other accents are Swarovski crystals, tiny seed beads, and several gold plated leaf charms at her waist. Oh yes, she also has a Swarovski crystal belly button!

ABOUT THE "BUTTERFLY FAIRY FACE" PIN:

Size: 3" x 3" - The top wing span is just about 3", and the length from top tip of wing to bottom tip of wing is also 3".

Wings: the colorful wings are of my own original design and were created with a beautiful batik fabric whose colors are magenta, aqua, with hints of light olive green. The wings are stuffed with acrylic fiberfil, and have inner wire armatures.

HAIRDO: Her fun textured colorful hairdo matches the colors in her wings. It is a texture of "wisps and nubs of color"

ACCENTS: Her antennae were designed from 4 - 4mm Swarovski crystals on colored wire, which have been hand-sewn to her head.

FACE: 100% silk, which I hand-drew, needle-sculpted, hand-painted. Face size is approx. 1" long x .75" wide.

PIN'S BACK: Half-circle of texturized brass to which the wing and the pin's clasp have been cemented to.

MEET MY "FAIRY PRINCESS"

FAIRY PRINCESS

I can't believe I managed to finish her, as I've been very busy getting together a huge list of more Etsy artists, who will be featured out here in the coming weeks. I just finished her today, and thought I'd bring her out here, so you can see what else I've been up to.

She was such fun to create, and is full of sparkle! She is wearing a lot of Swarovski crystals, and even has one in her "belly button". She has butterfly shaped wings, and measures 4" tall from her "seat" to the top of her fluffy hairdo! I hope she finds a good home before I get too attached to her!

Annual International Dragon Boats Race for the Cure!

Here is the "special" fairy I designed for The International Dragon Boat Race for the Cure, which is hosted in Windsor ON. Canada. Tara Chalmers, captain of the "Wings of Hope" dragon boat team had contacted me through my Etsy shop to see if I would be interested in donating one of my creations to this event. Finding a cure for breast cancer is very near and dear to my heart, as I lost a dear niece from breast cancer, at the young age of 37. Below is a brief description, taken from the official web site of this event, describing what they are all about.


The FDJ International Dragon Boats for the Cure festival takes place July 18 - July 20, 2008 in Windsor, ON. Paddlers from Canada and the United States will participate in this event to raise funds to fight breast cancer. French Dressing Jeanswear is proud to sponsor the International Dragon Boats for the Cure festival. Company President Len Miller says, "Dragon boat paddling provides tangible benefits to breast cancer patients and survivors, including emotional support, physical activity, and the opportunity for BCS teams to bring home money to their local cancer centres. It is an event that truly celebrates wellness for women.
