FEATURED ETSY SHOP - ELECTRIC PENGUIN

Beer Bead Cuff Bracelet - Upcycled Beer Labels / Leather / Wood

by Pam

ELECTRIC PENGUIN

I love featuring other Etsy artists as it is such fun finding and seeing all the unique, creative talents that abound on Etsy!

Let's welcome Pam, and her Etsy shop, ELECTRIC PENGUIN, where you will find, as Pam states in her shop's introduction, "fun, funky and unique jewelry", such as the Beer Bead Cuff Bracelet pictured above. Pam has a wide selection of unique, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and more in her shop, so be sure to pay her a visit.

What led you to start creating your art/craft?

I was looking for a specific style of necklace and couldn't find it anywhere. Then inspriation hit and I realized that since I've always been a crafty person, I probably could make it. I did, and that was the catalyst.

Lilypond Necklace

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?

It was the only one I had any talent for!

What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?

Taking the separate components and creating something totally new and unique out of them. Of course making a sale and getting wonderful feedback is pretty good too!

If you had to choose a fruit OR a vegetable, to describe your art/craft, what would you choose, and why?

Interesting question!! I'd say it would be a papaya - not the same old fruit, but everyone likes it once they try it.

Jordanelle Earrings - Vintage Lucite / Copper
If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?

That's an easy one - photography! I'm always trying to get "arty" shots when we're on vacation. Some are pretty good, but I'd love to have the talent to do it as a real job.

What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?

Be unique!

Tigereye Coil Bracelet

What advice do you have for other artists/crafters?

Make what you love, not what others think you should make. You'll enjoy it much more!

Pam, thanks for sharing your thoughts and unique, fun jewelry with everyone!  You have some great, original designs.

Be sure to pay a visit to the ELECTRIC PENGUIN to see all the great pieces of jewelry that it has to offer.

CUT YOUR HEART OUT

Button Up Necklace

Read Jessica's interview below to learn a bit more about how she got started creating her fun, funky jewelry.

What led you to start creating your art/craft?

I've always been the artsy/crafty sort. When I was a kid I was constantly making things out of random objects. I can't think of one time in my life when I wasn't engaged in some sort of art activity, whether it be writing, photography, painting or crafting. A couple of years ago, I started making jewelry and it became a favorite pass time. I don't even remember what sparked the interest other than the fact that I love accessories, but at one point I made way more pieces than I needed so I decided to try my hand at selling some of them on Etsy.

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?

I played around with various materials until I found the ones I liked best. I tend to go for a more eclectic feel so using found objects is my main source of inspiration which are also used in my pieces.

What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?

There's something very therapeutic about creating objects with my hands. I enjoy the time I spend actually making the pieces.

If you had to choose a fruit OR a vegetable, to describe your art/craft, what would you choose, and why?

A mango. Not so foreign that no one "gets" it, but just exotic enough that it stands out in the fruit bowl.

If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?

Photography. I have always loved being behind the lens.

What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?

Individuality, passion, soulfulness.

What advice do you have for other artists/crafters?

Create with your heart.

Thanks, Jessica, for a great interview, and for sharing your creativity with everyone!  To learn more about Jessica and her creations, be sure to visit her links below.

FEATURED ETSY SHOP - WIREFOX - Photography and wild jewelry

Three Droplets 16 by 20 Fine Art Photography Print
by Kacey
Taken after a morning rainstorm, this (insert flower name) is in full bloom in my Grandmother’s walled garden in Costa Rica.

Let's welcome, Kacey and her Etsy shop WIREFOX. Kacey not only has fine art photography in her WIREFOX shop, but also unique bottle cap pendants, other fun jewelry, post cards, and more. Be sure to pay WIREFOX a visit.

Fly away home

This pendant in made from polymer clay, beads, and an unpcycled izze twist off bottlecap. The little lady bug sits on a yellow background. Her spots are made from glass beads. Fits most thin chains.

What led you to start creating your art/craft?

Leg surgery. I was off my feet for an entire summer, an eternity in kid time.

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?

I didn't, polymer clay grew out of experiments with other, less satisfactory clay types, and photography was the only way I could capture what I want to capture

What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?

The moment when I first see a positive reaction from a buyer, or a friend, or a gallery goer.

If you had to choose a fruit OR a vegetable to describe your art/craft, what would you choose, and why?

Kiwi. Dark, strange and unapproachable in some ways, bizarrely textured, but vibrant and sweet all around...wait, was this about me, or my art? Still kiwi either way.

If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your creativity, what would that be and why?

Film. Writing. But mostly film. I've been fascinated with cinema since I was a little girl, and I am one of those rare people who want to go back to New York, not to act, but to become involved in technical theater and film-making.

What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?

You tell me...

What advice do you have for other artists/crafters?

Do what you love, if you are here for any other reason, now is the chance to get out.

Kacey, thanks for being a featured artist out here on DZFANTASY, and for sharing your creativity with everyone.

FEATURED ETSY SHOP - FUNKY BLINK - Colorful Jewelry

Treasure From a Box - Rhinestone Vintage-New Unique Necklace

Below you will read a portion of the description for the above necklace, as stated in the artist's shop. I thought is was rather interesting. To find out more about this gorgeous necklace, be sure to visit FUNKY BLINK.

"Some time ago I visited a Flea Market ( I just love those )..Sometimes you can find a 'suprise' offer. That means - there is some closed box or chest that you buy & you have no idea what's inside.... I bought a Treasure Box - it was love at first sight... The lock was jammed and the box was heavy.. When I opened it.. wrapped in some velvet cloth there was ... a yellow and blue Rhinestone Brooch! Yes! I went with it to a specialist and he priced it really high. I found a treasure!"

WELCOME, Catherine a.k.a. Blinky, and her Etsy shop, FUNKY BLINK, and hear what she has to tell has about herself and her colorful jewelry designs.

What led you to start creating your art/craft?

I'm a volcano of creativity and volcanos tend to erupt.... so do I. I have to create all the time to stay calm. I do different kinds of art & craft, one is never enough and I love this diversity.

How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?

It might sound strange, but it started as an obsession....I CANNOT WEAR EARRINGS.. I mean - I can, but cannot have my ears pierced, and exctly that made me think about earrings all the time. Now I wear clip ons, and I would love to introduce them to my shop, but cannot find one nice enough to add them to my creations. I fell in love in all kinds of jewelry... so I create and cannot stop anymore!

What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?

I really like fresh ideas.. making a new design... But the most enjoyable thing is when someone is just crazy about one of your creations.

If you had to choose a fruit OR a vegetable, to describe your art/craft, what would you choose, and why?

I would definitely say - lots of juicy colorful fruits and whipped cream on the top! A yummy Dessert!

If you had to choose one other medium in which to display your “creativity”, what would that be, and why?

Can I choose more? Wood sculpture, painting, graphic design, puppet making, Dresses for dolls.

What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?

I'm introducing more colour to this world and trying to feel like a professional fashion designer. Adding strong color to even black outfit is definitely cool.

What advice do you have for other artists/crafters?

There is always more you can learn, and in fact, you should never be fully satisfied. Search all the time for better designs! Everything should be well made.

Thanks, Blinky, for taking the time to do this interview, and sharing your wonderful, funky jewelry. Hope you find more "treasures". Be sure to visit FUNKY BLINK, so see what other items it has to offer.
