"FAERIE FESTIVALS"
The past several weeks I've been doing some investigating on where to place some adverts "on line" or in "FAERIE magazines" to advertise my fiber fantasy creations.
I was amazed to find that there are a lot of "Faerie Festivals" going on throughout the world! While I thought most of them were held in the UK, I was happy to find that the USA and other countries also hold these magical events!
For those of you who love faeries and anything connected with them, as I do, I will be listing several FAERIE FESTIVAL links below. Perhaps there is one in your area that you may want to attend. CLICK on the links below to learn more about each event.
JUNE 5 - Fairy Festival at Summers Past Farms, Flinn Springs, CA, USA
JUNE 18 - 20 - 3 Wishes Faery Fest - Cornwall, England
JUNE 19 - Thistledown Faerie Festival - Bonduel, WI USA
JUNE 19 - Midsummer Fairy Frolic - Middleboro, Massachusetts, USA
JUNE 25 - 27 -New York Faerie Festival - Ouaquaga, New York, USA
JUNE 25 - 27 - Fairy & Human Relations Congress, North Cascades, Washington, USA
JULY 30 - Aug. 1st - FaerieWorlds Festival - Eugene, Orgeon, USA
There are more around to be sure, but this should give you an idea of where all the magical people hang out! I will list links for any "Festivals" held in August, September and November in another post, so be sure to stop back for a visit.
I also found several great "Faerie Magazines" and online FAERIE web magazine....
FAERIE MAGAZINE - Where you will find tons of delightful, magical articles, photos, information and more! Just click on the magazine's title to get to their website.
FAE - Faeries and Enchantment - Articles on "fairy fashions", "music", "marketplace", "faery horoscopes" and a lot more!
FAE NATION - Visit this site to find a wide array of categories to explore .... Faery Lore, Art & Illustrations, Events, Books & Magazines, Gifts & Collectibles, Poetry & Prose, Home & Garden...and lots more!
I plan on giving periodic updates to where all the "faerie happenings" are occuring, along with other magical info on the wee folks.

FEBRUARY - AMETHYST "Birthstone Fairy"
(Click on the name amethyst above to learn more about her)
February's Birthstone Fairy
by DZFANTASY
The amethyst is the modern birthstone for those born in February, which happens to be my birthstone. I am going to be creating a "birthstone" fairy for each of the coming months. There are several other stones associated with each month, but I will be using the colors and crystals of the modern birthstone when creating these fairies.
Each fairy will be 6.5" tall and designed to either hang on the wall or dance from a bit of clear fishing line or ribbon. If anyone is interested in having a "special" birthstone fairy created as a gift, or for their own birthday, please feel free to contact me either by email at: dzfairies@msn.com or via a convo in Etsy.
February's fairy has 29 Swarovski crystals as her accents with amethyst Swarovski crystals in her accents...necklace, hair accent, waist, belly button and more!
Below is a little information on the amethyst stone:
Amethyst is the purple variety of the mineral quartz and is a popular gemstone. If it were not for its widespread availability, amethyst would be very expensive. The name "amethyst" comes from the Greek and means "not drunken." This was perhaps due to a belief that amethyst would ward off the effects of alcohol, but most likely the Greeks were referring to the almost wine-like color of some stones that they may have encountered. Its color is unparalleled, and even other, more expensive purple gemstones are often compared to its color and beauty. Although it must always be purple to be amethyst, it can and does have a wide range of purple shades.
I'll be starting on March's birthstone fairy soon, so do stop back for a visit.

HOW FUN IS THIS CREATION!! My latest butterfly fairy!
on
Tropical Jungle BEANBAG base
(fabric by Laurel Burch)

(CLICK on her above photo to learn more about her!)
I just finished this creation today, and was so pleased with her I decided to put her on my blog for all to see. She was so much fun to create with the colorful beanbag base. Below are more photos of her. She is now listed in my DZFANTASY shop on Etsy and will also be going to my art show this coming Saturday, in Delafield, WI. (Unless, of course, someone gives her a good home before then.)

She is designed to sit on the beanbag, but can also sit by herself.

ETSY OR ARTFIRE....WHY NOT BOTH!

I've just added this newest creation of mine out on my new ARTFIRE - DZFANTASY studio. Being a curious person, I decided to go ahead and open an ARTFIRE studio to see what it is all about. I will be listing some of my work out there, but my Etsy, DZFANTASY shop will still be my main focus for selling my creations. I feel it is good to keep an open mind to all possibilities!
