Read below to hear what Jill has to say about how she got started in her craft.
Can't you just see a little one looking so cute with this hat on! Don't forget to visit Jill's shop to see what else she has to offer.
What led you to start creating your art/craft?
I had to quit my job as an RN due to a rough pregnancy. I have been on bed rest for a while now. I started making hats when I saw one I loved for my daughter, but didn't like the quality. I decided to make it myself. I posted it, and another hat I made for her on a "mommy chat forum", which I have belonged to for a while. They went nuts and started requesting I make them hats. I have sold several and even had some repeats. I still do a lot of business there, but I decided to branch out and join Etsy.
How did you decide what medium you wanted to work with?
I do a lot of crafting. I actually crochet the most. I love making things for children and babies. I always make baby shower gifts, and most birthday gifts. I also do special order sewing projects on the side.
What aspect of creating your art/craft do you find the most enjoyable?
I just love to be able to express my creative side. I love when someone asks for something challenging, and I get to figure out how to make it happen.
If you had to choose a fruit OR a vegetable, to describe your art/craft, what would you choose, and why?
Grapes. So many different yummy varieties. Some for all ages, and some for adults only.
What message, if any, do you want to convey with your art/craft?
I just want to make things that make other people smile. That makes me smile.
What advice to you have for other artists/crafters?
Do what makes you happy, and I believe it will be seen by others.
I think when you look at Jill's creations, she is certainly following her dream of creating things to make people smile! Thanks, Jill, for sharing your thoughts and creativity!
Now this whimsical, colorful hat made ME smile!
